Clara is a fast-growing B2B fintech platform serving Latin America, helping over 20,000 businesses manage payments, corporate cards, bill pay, and financing. The company is backed by top-tier investors including Kaszek, Monashees, Coatue, and General Catalyst.
You'll join the Collections squad as a Fullstack Software Engineer, owning end-to-end feature development from backend services to customer-facing interfaces. This is a high-ownership role where you identify gaps, propose solutions, and ship independently.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement backend services in Java + Spring Boot, focusing on financial flows (payments, collections, reconciliation)
- Build and maintain React + TypeScript frontends; own features across both layers
- Model data and manage PostgreSQL and Redis for transactional and caching needs
- Work with event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar) in a distributed microservices environment
- Build and secure RESTful APIs for internal and external consumption
- Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) as a default part of your workflow
- Collaborate with Pod Lead and PM to translate product needs into technical decisions
Required qualifications:
- 3–5 years of backend development experience in Java, including Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with React and TypeScript; you've shipped real UI
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and distributed systems fundamentals
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Daily use of AI-augmented development tools; ability to speak concretely about impact on your output
- Proactive mindset; you identify what's missing before being asked
- Working proficiency in English and Spanish
Nice-to-have experience includes Kafka/RabbitMQ, financial services/payments/fintech background, Kubernetes, and production observability. Side projects, open source contributions, or internal tools you're proud of are a plus.
