Homebase is seeking a Fullstack Growth Engineer II to own backend-first product and growth initiatives that help small business customers discover value faster and engage more deeply with the platform. You'll work primarily in Ruby on Rails while contributing across the stack (React, TypeScript), partnering closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to identify opportunities, ship experiments, and improve customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining backend services, APIs, and data models in Rails; owning growth initiatives from concept through launch and iteration; building customer-facing product experiences; designing and evaluating experiments that improve activation, engagement, retention, and monetization; and leveraging analytics to inform product decisions. You'll implement experimentation frameworks, improve analytics instrumentation, and use AI tools to enhance engineering velocity. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, driving technical quality through testing and code reviews, and balancing speed with quality to maintain strong customer outcomes.
You'll bring 2–5 years of software engineering experience building customer-facing web applications, strong professional experience with Ruby on Rails backend systems, working knowledge of React and TypeScript, and demonstrated ability to contribute effectively across the stack. Strong product sense, cross-functional collaboration skills, and experience using AI tools to improve engineering workflows are essential. You should be comfortable operating in ambiguity and have strong communication skills. The role requires in-person collaboration at the Toronto hub on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Bonus experience includes product-led growth environments, experimentation platforms and A/B testing frameworks, feature flagging systems, analytics tools, and building internal tooling that improves product velocity. Homebase emphasizes an AI-first culture where engineers thoughtfully incorporate AI into daily workflows, measure effectiveness of AI-enabled processes, and share best practices with teammates.
