ICEYE is a space-based intelligence and reconnaissance company delivering satellite data and analytics to governments and allied nations. This role is a senior individual contributor position in the Solutions department, reporting to an Engineering Manager or Team Lead.
You will own end-to-end product slices, building seamless functionality from backend APIs to frontend UIs. Your responsibilities include:
- End-to-End Delivery: Transform vague requirements into testable, production-ready code spanning backend and frontend systems.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain system reliability through on-call rotations, meaningful observability, clear logging, and automated runbooks.
- Process Optimization: Identify and eliminate delivery bottlenecks (slow CI, flaky tests) and automate recurring toil to focus on novel engineering challenges.
- Pragmatic Engineering: Design simple, maintainable architectures prioritizing incremental changes, clear documentation, and high-quality code reviews for safe deployments.
- Collaborative Leadership: Align with Product, Design, and Data teams while mentoring peers through pair programming and shared technical context.
Required qualifications:
- Senior-level experience delivering and maintaining cloud-native production software
- Strong proficiency in Python (FastAPI, async patterns) and TypeScript/React
- Practical delivery mindset with proven ability to ship, iterate, and keep changes reviewable
- Production maturity: design for resilience, debuggability, and supportability
- Strong communication skills to explain trade-offs and align with Product and peers
- Willingness to work 3 days per week in the Espoo office and thrive in direct collaboration
Nice-to-haves include familiarity with geospatial domains, remote sensing, data-intensive applications, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and pragmatic use of AI-assisted workflows.
