Krea is building next-generation AI creative tools that empower human creativity. The company has raised over $83M from top-tier investors including a16z and Bain Capital, and recently launched Krea 2, their proprietary foundation model built for aesthetic diversity and stylistic control.
As a Fullstack Engineer, you'll work on both frontend and backend systems that power Krea's creative AI platform. On the frontend, you'll build and maintain APIs and UI flows using Svelte/SvelteKit and TypeScript, designing interactive, responsive experiences with drag-and-drop functionality, real-time canvas interactions, and smooth animations. You'll optimize frontend performance by minimizing render latency, profiling with virtual DOM techniques, and delivering seamless WebSocket image streams.
On the backend, you'll design and maintain Node.js services with Postgres and Redis, implement caching strategies, and work on database schema design. You'll also help kickstart a Public API project to serve Krea's AI models to millions of developers, diagnose HTTP/3 and WebSocket issues across client and server, and drive real-time image and video generation pipelines via low-latency APIs.
Additional responsibilities include improving observability and alerting using OpenTelemetry, implementing enterprise features like Audit Logs and SAML/SSO provisioning, and potentially scaling infrastructure through AWS EKS GPU clusters and Kubernetes operators.
Ideal candidates have solid full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript experience with a frontend focus, familiarity with SvelteKit or similar frameworks, comfort designing APIs and database schemas, and understanding of infrastructure and scale (Kubernetes, Postgres, Redis). Experience with real-time UI via WebSockets, enterprise auth features, GPU workloads, or ML/image/video pipelines is a plus. Side projects and open-source contributions are valued.
The team includes musicians, designers, visual artists, and engineers working full-time in-person at Krea's waterfront San Francisco office. You'll have significant scope and company-wide impact.
