P-1 AI is building Archie, an AI engineer agent for the physical world designed to work seamlessly within existing engineering teams. The company has developed a proprietary tech stack including custom agentic systems, structured design representations, continual skills learning, and small custom post-trained models using semi-synthetic training data—creating a deep competitive moat toward engineering ASI.
As a Full Stack Super SWE, you will build the core product platform upon which Archie is built and shipped to customers. You'll own end-to-end product features spanning architecture, backend, frontend, and reliability. The role demands a heavyweight software engineer who can work across the entire stack and take products from concept through production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building the product experience between frontier AI systems and demanding technical users, solving interaction problems unique to agentic AI
- Developing and adopting state-of-the-art best practices for using coding agents in the team's development workflow
- Working closely with forward-deployed engineers, AI researchers, fellow SWEs, and founders to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on new product concepts
- Shipping continuously, responding to customer feedback, and refining the product through rapid iteration
- Taking deep pride in product quality and engineering decisions
You should have a track record of shipping significant products or features, clear ability to explain engineering decisions, and public proof of talent through products, open-source work, personal projects, or technical writing. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-moving environments with high ownership, embraces ambiguity, and is constantly experimenting with AI tools to optimize workflow and code quality.
The role is based in San Mateo, CA with flexibility for remote work (US/Canada). Remote employees spend one week out of six on-site in the San Mateo office. Relocation support is available.
