Scale's Global Public Sector team is building AI solutions to address critical challenges facing governments and public institutions worldwide. The team focuses on creating custom AI applications, generating high-quality training data for custom LLMs, and providing upskilling and advisory services.
As a Full-Stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed), you will work directly with public sector clients to rapidly build and deploy full-stack AI applications that solve their most pressing operational challenges. This role combines technical development with client engagement—you'll spend time understanding user feedback, assisting with delivery, and ensuring solutions have meaningful impact for citizens.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with senior engineers to implement features for public sector clients, including on-site client engagement
- Developing and maintaining full-stack components that integrate with AI models, focusing on responsive UIs and reliable backend APIs
- Assisting in deploying and monitoring applications within cloud environments, ensuring system stability and security
- Building and refining reusable features that support diverse international client use cases
- Working within multi-disciplinary teams of design, product, and data specialists
You should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field, with professional full-stack experience. Required technical skills include React, TypeScript, and Python/Node.js, with familiarity in Next.js, NoSQL/Relational databases, Docker, and cloud deployments. You'll need solid experience building and deploying web applications, understanding cloud fundamentals, and scalable coding practices. A self-starting approach to navigate ambiguous requirements and deliver reliable software is essential.
Nice-to-have experience includes cross-functional work with operations teams and building solutions with LLMs. Scale works with leading organizations including Meta, Ernst & Young, Mayo Clinic, and various government agencies including the U.S. Army and Air Force.
