LM Studio is a platform used by millions globally to run AI on personal computers and in the cloud. The company is building tools centered on human-AI interaction with a focus on technical excellence and personal responsibility. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will work across LM Studio's web platforms, API backend, SDK, and desktop application. On any given project, you might build a React interface, design the API and data model, debug network behavior between services, and optimize system performance under real load. You will be expected to understand the systems beneath your code: browsers and servers, databases and transactions, HTTP and TCP, concurrency and failure modes, and the constraints of serverless execution. The role requires comfort moving down the stack when necessary while maintaining focus on the finished product. Key responsibilities include building features across the full stack, designing user experiences alongside supporting services and data models, building systems that scale reliably, diagnosing and fixing problems across all layers, and making technical decisions while owning the results. Required qualifications include significant production software experience across frontend and backend, excellent TypeScript and React fundamentals, strong understanding of APIs, SQL, relational databases, and data modeling, solid networking fundamentals (TCP, HTTP, WebSockets, streaming), understanding of system scaling and serverless/distributed tradeoffs, ability to investigate problems across client, network, service, and database layers, and deep interest in AI, developer tools, and open-weight models. The role offers competitive salary and equity, comprehensive healthcare (medical, vision, dental), catered team lunches and expensed dinners, flexible PTO, flexible work-from-home options, and a sun-drenched office in SoHo, NYC.
