Derq is an MIT spinoff building AI-powered traffic safety and smart infrastructure solutions. The company leverages cutting-edge AI and real-time data analytics to transform urban mobility, helping cities and road operators predict and prevent incidents through connected sensors (cameras, radar, traffic signal controllers) and edge/cloud deployments.
As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will own features end-to-end across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure. You'll build scalable, high-availability products powering intelligent transportation systems that directly impact real-world road safety deployments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop full-stack applications spanning React (Remix), TypeScript, Vue.js frontends and NestJS backend services
- Build responsive, scalable customer-facing applications and production-critical APIs
- Design and optimize integrations with relational databases (RDBMS), MongoDB, and Amazon Redshift
- Architect event-driven cloud pipelines using AWS (S3, SQS, Lambda, Cognito, API Gateway)
- Develop ETL and data transformation workflows in Python
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and deployment teams on architecture and best practices
- Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and support scalability
You should have 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience building scalable platforms handling large user volumes and complex workflows. Strong technical depth required in React/TypeScript/Vue.js, NestJS, relational databases, AWS services, event-driven architectures, Python ETL, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD tooling. You're comfortable working independently, taking ownership, and moving fast in a startup environment.
