Mollie, a leading European payment service provider, is expanding its Engineering Hub to Milan. As a Full Stack Engineer II, you'll be a core member of the Customer Onboarding domain, responsible for building seamless end-to-end onboarding experiences that help businesses integrate Mollie's payment solutions effortlessly.
You'll work in a small, focused agile team solving clearly defined problem spaces within a high-scale payment processing environment. Your responsibilities include designing and maintaining APIs, user interfaces, and backend services; collaborating closely with engineers and product teams to build features that handle high transaction volumes; and working with UI engineers across teams to maintain consistency and share knowledge. You'll analyze and solve complex problems across the full stack, balancing code quality with velocity.
Mollie's engineering philosophy emphasizes "ship early, ship often"—breaking large challenges into smaller iterations deployed multiple times daily. The company maintains code quality through peer reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and gradual feature rollouts. The tech stack includes PHP and Java for core systems, with modern service-oriented and serverless architecture for scaling. Frontend applications are built primarily in TypeScript and React with flexible, reusable components and an extensive internal UI library.
You should bring minimum 5 years of full-stack web development experience, ideally with PHP/MySQL and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular). Strong knowledge of CI/CD, queueing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka), and caching solutions (Redis) is essential. You're a generalist who enjoys working across frontend and backend as needed, with excellent communication and collaboration skills. The role requires the ability to reduce system complexity, solve cross-team problems, and balance quality with speed.
