OpenAI's ChatGPT Learning team is building the next generation of learning experiences within ChatGPT, transforming it from a one-off answer platform into a comprehensive learning companion. With millions of weekly users leveraging ChatGPT for concept understanding, skill practice, and problem-solving, the team is focused on expanding access to powerful educational tools globally.
As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will design and build product experiences that enable millions to learn effectively with ChatGPT. Your work spans the entire stack—from polished user-facing interfaces to robust backend services—shipping features that make learning intuitive, engaging, and impactful. You'll collaborate closely with researchers, product managers, designers, and platform teams to translate cutting-edge AI capabilities into real-world learning experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building end-to-end product experiences for learning within ChatGPT
- Designing and implementing multimodal capabilities (text, images, voice, interactive interfaces) for learning workflows
- Developing scalable backend services and APIs powering learning features across ChatGPT surfaces
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to prototype and ship ideas rapidly
- Optimizing performance, reliability, and usability of learning experiences
- Iterating on features using experimentation and user feedback
You thrive in this role if you enjoy building high-quality consumer products across the full stack, own features from concept to production, and have experience with modern web technologies (React, TypeScript, Python, Node.js). Strong product engineering instincts, UX quality focus, and experience with AI-powered or LLM-based applications are valued. Background in educational tools, interactive learning products, or a passion for expanding educational access is a plus.
