Lago is a US-based e-commerce retailer operating multiple storefronts with a custom headless architecture. The company runs lean, prioritizing operational efficiency over scale. The tech stack includes Shopify Hydrogen (React Router) for storefronts, Algolia for search, Storyblok for CMS, and a mature Django monolith handling ERP/PIM/CRM functions.
You'll join as a Full Stack Developer responsible for building and maintaining custom Shopify Hydrogen storefronts using React Router, implementing complex commerce features and headless integrations. Key responsibilities span three domains:
Frontend & Hydrogen Development: Build responsive UIs using HTML, CSS, and modern React; own frontend performance across storefronts. Manage migrations from legacy frontends (Shopify Liquid and Django-based) to Hydrogen with data integrity and minimal disruption. Debug and optimize the full data flow from React components through GraphQL to backend systems.
Backend Integration & API Work: Extend and maintain Python/Django code powering GraphQL API integrations between Shopify and internal systems. Build custom middleware and integrations when standard Shopify features don't work with the headless stack (e.g., custom feed generators, Algolia reindexing logic). Modify data exchange layers and API endpoints as business requirements evolve. Navigate and enhance the monolithic Django codebase without breaking existing functionality.
Infrastructure & Deployment: Manage software-defined infrastructure for Hydrogen deployments. Build CI/CD pipelines, configure environments, and automate releases to Shopify Oxygen or similar edge platforms. Own the deployment toolchain from local development through production. Troubleshoot deployment and infrastructure issues across the stack.
You'll also translate ambiguous business requests into technical approaches, assessing whether requirements are quick tweaks, custom integrations, or architectural discussions. You'll identify when requirements touch core architecture or have significant business implications, escalating strategically to the CTO when needed.
Required: 3+ years building custom eCommerce storefronts with Shopify Hydrogen, React, and React Router. Proven headless commerce experience and complex frontend implementation. Hands-on Python/Django maintenance and extension. Deep GraphQL API understanding, REST integrations, and data synchronization between Shopify, ERP, CRM, and PIM systems. Demonstrated success migrating legacy applications to modern architectures. Experience with monolithic codebases and multi-system integration while maintaining data integrity. CI/CD pipeline and deployment workflow experience. Familiarity with Shopify Oxygen, edge platforms, containerized deployments, and infrastructure troubleshooting. Strong English communication skills. Full-time availability (40 hours/week, East Coast Time Zone).
Nice-to-haves: Experience in "Shopify-but-not-really-Shopify" environments, Liquid-to-Hydrogen migrations, large-scale product catalogs (100K+ SKUs), feed syndication, Algolia search integration, or Storyblok headless CMS workflows.
