Lago is seeking a Full Stack Developer to support a US-based e-commerce retailer operating a custom headless Shopify architecture. The company runs lean with operational efficiency as a priority, using Shopify Hydrogen (React Router) for storefronts, Algolia for search, Storyblok for CMS, and a mature Django monolith for ERP/PIM/CRM functions. You will own the full stack across frontend, backend integration, and infrastructure. On the frontend, you'll build and maintain custom Shopify Hydrogen storefronts using React Router, implement responsive UIs, and manage migrations from legacy systems (Liquid and Django-based) to Hydrogen with minimal disruption. You'll debug and optimize data flows from React components through GraphQL to backend systems. On the backend, you'll extend and maintain Python/Django code powering GraphQL API integrations between Shopify and the internal monolith. You'll build custom middleware and integrations when standard Shopify features don't fit the headless stack—such as custom feed generators for syndication or Algolia reindexing logic. You'll navigate and enhance the monolithic Django codebase without breaking existing functionality. Infrastructure responsibilities include managing software-defined infrastructure for Hydrogen deployments, building CI/CD pipelines, configuring environments, and automating releases to Oxygen or similar edge platforms. You'll own the deployment toolchain from local development through production and troubleshoot deployment and infrastructure issues. A critical aspect of this role is translating ambiguous business requests into technical approaches. You'll assess whether requests are quick tweaks, custom integrations, or architectural discussions requiring CTO input. You'll identify when requirements touch core architecture or involve significant data migration, and escalate strategically rather than habitually. Strong communication with non-technical stakeholders is essential. Must-haves include strong frontend proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern React; hands-on experience with Shopify Hydrogen and headless commerce; solid Python and Django skills; CI/CD and serverless/edge deployment experience; expertise with Shopify GraphQL APIs; demonstrated ability to self-direct on clear tasks while recognizing when to escalate; and strong English communication skills. Full-time availability (40 hours/week) is required. Nice-to-haves include experience in non-standard Shopify environments, Liquid-to-Hydrogen migrations, large-scale product catalogs (100K+ SKUs), feed syndication, Algolia integration, Storyblok workflows, and React Router experience outside Hydrogen contexts. The ideal candidate is a pragmatic problem-solver who figures out how to make things work within real constraints. You trace issues across the entire stack and implement end-to-end solutions. You have good judgment about when to handle something independently versus when to discuss it first. You're adaptable to ambiguity, ask clarifying questions, and understand the nuances of Hydrogen + Algolia + Storyblok versus traditional Shopify Liquid. You're comfortable being the second engineering hire and working with the CTO in a mentee-ready capacity.
