Tempo is a leading enterprise productivity platform trusted by over 30,000 customers, including a third of Fortune 500 companies. The company provides integrated solutions for time management, resource planning, budget management, roadmapping, program management, and reporting—primarily as the #1 time management add-on for Jira and across the Atlassian ecosystem.
You will join as a Full Stack Developer on the BI Connectors for Jira Data Center team, a mature, multi-product Atlassian app that exports Jira data into leading BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, BigQuery, Databases, and OData-based tools). This is a core reliability and engineering role on a highly successful product with a massive, active user base.
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Investigate and troubleshoot customer and support issues end-to-end—reproduce, find root causes, and ship reliable fixes in a timely manner
- Maintain and stabilize the existing codebase, ensuring compatibility across multiple Jira Data Center versions and database vendors
- Keep the product current and secure by upgrading dependencies, addressing CVEs, and adapting to new Jira and database releases
- Support customers migrating between environments, including Data Center → Cloud paths
- Make targeted improvements and enhancements to the product
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests to protect against regressions
- Participate in peer code reviews, upholding coding standards and best practices
- Work with GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) to keep builds green and manage releases
- Work closely with support, QA, PMs, and other stakeholders to build durable, shareable product knowledge
This is a high-ownership, high-impact position. As you master the architecture, you will become the definitive technical authority for complex, high-stakes integration problems. The team values engineering actual solutions to root causes rather than burning through ticket queues. You'll work with a codebase spanning Java 8, Spring, React, TypeScript, and multiple relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server).
Tempo offers a remote-first work environment with unlimited vacation (in most locations), comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision, savings plan), training reimbursement, WFH reimbursement, optional in-person meet-ups, and an employee referral program.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of relevant full-stack work experience
- Solid back-end experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem (dependency injection, REST controllers); comfortable reading and safely changing existing framework-based codebases
- Good command of relational databases and SQL, with the judgment to debug data correctness and query-performance issues (bonus: experience across multiple vendors—PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server)
- Practical experience maintaining production UIs with React (hooks, component composition) and TypeScript in a typed codebase
- Familiarity with state management (Redux / Redux Toolkit, MobX, or comparable) and a modern front-end build tool (Vite or Webpack)
- Good understanding of OOP, common design patterns, and automated testing
- Highly analytical, with a genuine passion for debugging—reproducing hard-to-repeat issues and chasing them to root cause is core to this role
- A sense of ownership—able to work with autonomy, comfortable picking up unfamiliar areas and support tickets and driving them to resolution
- Good communication skills in English (B2+ / upper-intermediate or higher)
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience developing or maintaining Atlassian Data Center apps (P2 plugins, Atlassian Plugin SDK, Spring Scanner, Marketplace) or strong willingness to learn
- Experience supporting a customer-facing product and working directly with support/customer requests
- Familiarity with BI/analytics tooling or the OData protocol
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization on large datasets
- Awareness of secure coding practices (input validation, injection, SSRF, dependency CVEs)
- Awareness of Atlassian Cloud and Cloud-migration paths (e.g., JCMA) for Data Center apps
