BrainPOP, acquired by KIRKBI (the LEGO family investment company) in 2022, is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join its engineering team. The company reaches an estimated 25 million students annually across two-thirds of U.S. school districts, delivering engaging educational content and learning experiences.
In this role, you will build and scale full-stack features powering BrainPOP's educational platform. You'll work with PHP (Laravel) on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend, developing responsive, performant, and accessible applications. A key focus is integrating AI and LLM capabilities into the product—automating workflows, enabling intelligent content generation, and building AI-assisted study tools. You'll experiment with prompt engineering, model selection, and AI evaluation frameworks to enhance user experience.
You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams in Agile workflows, participate in code reviews, write unit and integration tests, and use observability tools like New Relic to monitor application health. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of professional full-stack web development experience, proficiency in PHP (Laravel) or Node.js, hands-on experience with Vue.js or similar modern frameworks, and solid understanding of relational databases and API design. Nice-to-have skills include production experience with LLM-powered features, cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS/GCP), CI/CD best practices, and Docker familiarity.
