The company is backed by over €385 million in public and private funding and operates across Munich and Colorado with 120 scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs. In this role, you will initiate and develop research programs investigating hydrogen isotope exchange reactions through hands-on laboratory work and modeling/simulation. You will conduct materials characterization using advanced analytical techniques including chemical and elemental analysis, with specific expertise in hydrogen isotopes and light elements. A key responsibility is coordinating multi-partner research consortia, building and maintaining collaborations with academic and industrial partners, and drafting public funding applications. You will provide technical leadership by mentoring junior scientists and coordinating cross-functional teams. Additional responsibilities include writing and overseeing technical and safety documentation, protocol development, and contributing to internal, external, and funding-body reports. The role offers the opportunity to work on one of humanity's most complex technological challenges—harnessing fusion energy on Earth—alongside world-leading scientists in a high-growth startup environment where individual and company development are prioritized. Benefits include public transport reimbursement, EGYM Wellpass fitness club access, complimentary health insurance, professional development support, company pension plan, and healthy office snacks.
