Scale AI is seeking a Frontier Agents Engineer to work directly with strategic enterprise customers on architecting, integrating, deploying, and operating production AI systems. This forward-deployed engineering role sits at the intersection of AI and enterprise software engineering, combining modern software engineering, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and frontier AI technologies. You will architect and deploy production AI systems that integrate seamlessly into complex enterprise environments including cloud platforms, data warehouses, internal APIs, and proprietary software systems. You'll design scalable agent architectures combining LLMs, retrieval, memory, tools, structured knowledge, and enterprise data into reliable production workflows. Your work will include building robust integrations that allow AI agents to safely interact with customer systems while meeting enterprise requirements for security, governance, and compliance. On the platform engineering side, you'll build production infrastructure enabling frontier AI research to become reliable enterprise software. This includes developing agent runtimes, orchestration frameworks, context pipelines, execution services, and tool integrations. You'll engineer systems for reliability, observability, latency, scalability, retries, fallback strategies, and graceful degradation. You'll also design human-in-the-loop workflows combining AI automation with expert oversight. Production AI quality is critical: you'll operationalize modern AI quality systems ensuring production agents remain reliable as models, prompts, and customer data evolve. You'll deploy evaluation harnesses using offline benchmarks, online experiments, golden datasets, regression suites, and LLM-as-a-Judge methodologies. You'll implement tracing, observability, monitoring, guardrails, grounding, and safety mechanisms enabling confident production operation. You'll partner directly with enterprise customers to understand their technical infrastructure, software architecture, and operational workflows, translating ambiguous problems into scalable production AI architectures. You'll serve as the primary technical advisor for strategic accounts, leading architecture discussions spanning distributed systems, AI infrastructure, enterprise integration, and production deployment. You'll identify reusable engineering patterns that become core capabilities across multiple deployments and document best practices for the organization.
