Coram AI is building a cloud-native video security platform powered by computer vision and AI. The company transforms legacy security infrastructure by integrating multimodal LLMs and advanced detection capabilities (firearm detection, intelligent access control) into a modern, user-friendly platform.
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will architect and scale high-performance React and TypeScript applications designed for real-time surveillance operations. Your core responsibilities include building sophisticated UI components for video playback, timeline scrubbing, and multi-camera grid management. You'll optimize client-side rendering, network bandwidth, and browser memory usage when handling high-frequency streaming data—a critical challenge in real-time video security.
You'll work closely with Product, Design, and Machine Learning engineers to translate complex AI detection capabilities into intuitive user experiences. You're expected to establish frontend architecture patterns, maintain testing standards, and mentor team members as the platform scales.
Required qualifications include production experience with React and TypeScript, deep expertise in frontend performance profiling and browser memory management, and hands-on work with real-time data streams (WebSockets, SSE, WebRTC). You should have strong software engineering fundamentals around modular architecture, state management, and automated testing, plus a high bar for UI detail, usability, and web accessibility.
Nice-to-haves include experience with web video technologies (HLS, WebRTC, MSE, Canvas/WebGL), spatial/location-aware dashboards (Mapbox, Leaflet), and prior startup or B2B SaaS experience.
Coram AI was founded by Ashesh Jain (ex-Lyft Level 5, PhD Cornell) and Peter Ondruska (ex-Lyft, PhD Oxford). The company has raised over $65M from Ansa Capital, Battery Ventures, Mosaic, 8VC, and Up Partners, and was named to CB Insights AI 100.
