Nelo is a profitable fintech and e-commerce platform in Mexico with >$500MM annualized GMV and >$70MM annualized revenue. The company's mission is to increase consumer buying power in Latin America through an AI-native credit platform. Nelo has raised $40M+ from top-tier VCs (Homebrew, Two Sigma Ventures, Susa Ventures) and a $100M credit facility from Victory Park Capital. The team includes experienced leaders from Uber, Amazon, Rappi, and DiDi.
As a Frontend Engineer, you will own entire user-facing surfaces of the Nelo app used by hundreds of thousands of people to pay for real things with real money. You'll own major surfaces including onboarding, checkout, payments, and credit flows from design partnership through production monitoring. You ship daily, work directly with design and founders, and see conversion impact of your work in data the same week.
You will work AI-native from day one using Claude Code and agentic tools as your default workflow. A single frontend engineer at Nelo covers the surface area a team of four covers elsewhere. You'll set the standard for performance, reliability, and polish in an app people trust with their money, reduce frontend defects through testing and review practices, and automate repetitive work so your time goes to product judgment.
Required: substantial production experience shipping consumer-facing frontend (mobile or web), deep fluency in modern frontend stacks (React/React Native or equivalent), ability to own outcomes end-to-end from ambiguous idea to measured impact, and working English proficiency. Strong signals include payments/checkout experience, daily use of Claude Code or agentic tools, startup/small-team frontend ownership, and demonstrated conversion/activation metric improvements.
The role is based in-office in Roma Norte (Mexico City) or Tribeca (New York City) because the speed of shipping depends on engineers, design, and founders being in the same room. Remote is not an option. The company is lean (~70 people), fast, and opinionated about quality.
