Volta is building a vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform with a mission to make compute as reliable and available as electricity. The company is backed by a $10B strategic partnership with a leading AI lab, Series A funding from Andreessen Horowitz, and a $5B AI Infrastructure Fund.
You will join the platform engineering team responsible for Volta's user-facing surface: the web console, customer-facing APIs, and infrastructure-as-code interfaces like Terraform modules. This is a core platform engineering team with two embedded frontend developers working alongside backend engineers on the same problems from different angles.
Key responsibilities include building and extending the Volta web console with features for capacity and cluster views, provisioning workflows, quota and usage tracking, access management, and operational visibility. You'll work from UX designs, provide technical feedback on feasibility and performance, and collaborate closely with platform engineers on API integration. You'll own the frontend codebase end-to-end, including component structure, state management, styling, accessibility, testing, and performance.
The role requires handling complex states properly: partial data, long-running provisioning operations, streaming telemetry, permission-scoped views, and multi-tenant security boundaries. You'll act as the consumer voice for API design, surface awkward shapes and missing states early, and contribute to frontend tooling and build pipelines. You'll also support the developer-facing surface through documentation, error messaging, and ensuring consistency between console and API.
The team operates in an Agile environment (Kanban or Scrum) with code review, technical design discussions, and cross-team collaboration. You'll participate in supporting what you ship in production, including triaging customer-reported issues.
Required: 3-5 years professional frontend development, strong TypeScript proficiency with solid HTML/CSS fundamentals, deep experience with a modern component framework (React, Vue, Angular), understanding of component design and state management, ability to consume REST/GraphQL APIs, and strong engineering fundamentals. You should be comfortable working in a technical domain and interested in GPU infrastructure.
Nice-to-have skills include AI-assisted development tools, experience with developer-facing UIs (cloud consoles, dashboards, observability), data-dense interfaces, design systems, schema-driven development, infrastructure-as-code exposure, authentication/authorization flows, some backend capability, and distributed team experience.
