Aspora is a borderless financial operating system founded in 2022, backed by Sequoia Capital, Greylock Partners, and Y Combinator, with 150+ employees across India, the UK, UAE, EU, and US. The company enables people to move money globally with transparency and ease. You will lead fraud detection and deterrence end-to-end across all payment rails and geographies. This role owns exposure mapping, rule building, limits, and customer protection strategies. You report to the Head of Financial Crime and partner closely with Product, Payments, Engineering, Customer Support, and Compliance on every product launch. You make critical trade-off decisions between fraud prevention and customer friction, determining what ships on day one and owning the outcomes. Key responsibilities include: - Map fraud exposure across every rail, product, and geography, building and maintaining the observability layer for real-time monitoring - Build and govern rules on Aspora's proprietary decisioning platform, with back-testing before deployment - Design progressive access tiers to payment rails based on risk, allowing trusted customers to move freely while limits grow with trust - Measure and track every control change against fraud caught versus friction added, retiring rules that no longer justify their cost - Implement vulnerable-customer education and in-the-moment verification without slowing good customers - Ensure every new product, geography, or rail has a signed-off exposure map before launch - Shape fraud strategy and set the playbook that every launch follows You see fraud as a live contest won or lost in seconds, not a dashboard to monitor. You've worked fraud at multiple fintechs or high-velocity regulated platforms (neobanks, payments companies, gambling operators, gaming platforms, or crypto exchanges) across the UK, EU, or US. You've built fraud controls from scratch at B2C fintechs while protecting consumer money at scale. You started as an investigator, working alerts and cases by hand, and can spot patterns before they appear on dashboards. You've handled real fraud attacks or loss spikes, made fast decisions under pressure, and stayed on fixes until they held. You own your approach end-to-end without waiting to be told, and you map fraud exposure before go-live, not after losses land. You protect good customers by stopping fraud without adding friction, and you can demonstrate the numbers behind your controls. You prefer building the right controls once on your own decisioning platform rather than tuning vendor defaults indefinitely. REQUIREMENTS: - Multiple years of fraud management experience at more than one fintech or high-velocity regulated platform - Background working across UK, EU, or US markets - Experience building fraud controls from scratch at B2C fintech scale - Hands-on investigative background, starting as a fraud investigator - Proven ability to handle real fraud attacks or loss spikes under pressure - End-to-end ownership mindset with ability to execute without direction - Ability to map fraud exposure pre-launch - Demonstrated skill in balancing fraud prevention with customer experience
