Brex is seeking a Fraud Operations Associate to join its Operations team in Vancouver. This role sits at the heart of Brex's mission to protect customers and the company through intelligent fraud management and risk mitigation.
You will manage daily workflows related to transaction fraud, first-party fraud, and account takeovers, working to improve the business's ability to scale and make risk-based, customer-focused decisions. As the company expert in fraud operations, you'll have autonomy to drive down losses and improve internal efficiencies.
Key responsibilities include:
**Case Management:** Own and manage associate-level fraud queues, develop and implement scalable operational processes, make risk-based decisions on high-value/risk transactions and account offboardings, and achieve company-level goals around fraud loss reduction.
**Case Escalations & Incident Handling:** Respond to cross-functional escalations with diligence, balance risk with customer satisfaction, streamline fraud operational workflows, and conduct root cause analysis on fraud incidents.
**Project & Roadmap Ownership:** Own and ship projects from the Fraud Ops roadmap with full autonomy, leverage AI tools to enhance queues and projects, and partner with Policy, Data Science, and Engineering teams to improve tooling and scale internal operations.
You'll work in a hybrid environment requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), with up to four weeks per year of fully remote work available.
Required qualifications: 3+ years in fraud, risk, or related operations roles; 1+ year leading projects or workstreams end-to-end; demonstrated ability to use data to investigate issues and support decisions; strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Bonus qualifications include SQL or data query tool familiarity, people management or team lead experience, experience with AI tools for operational workflows, and fintech/payments/banking industry background.
