Payhawk is a global spend management platform combining company cards, reimbursable expenses, and accounts payable for scaling businesses. Operating two electronic money institution licenses (Lithuania and UK), the company serves fast-growing and multinational enterprises across 32 countries.
This role establishes fraud prevention as a dedicated global discipline at Payhawk, reporting directly to the Group Chief Compliance Officer with board-level visibility. You will own the complete fraud prevention framework across both licensed entities, including policy, risk assessment, typologies, controls, and key risk indicators.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing fraud detection systems that produce actionable decisions rather than alerts, covering card fraud, payment fraud, account takeover, and behavioral anomalies. You will own the intervention model with defined thresholds for authentication, account freezes, and customer contact. The role requires close collaboration with information security, engineering, payments, and compliance teams across both entities.
A significant component involves regulatory implementation across both the Bank of Lithuania and Financial Conduct Authority frameworks. You will lead implementation of the Bank of Lithuania Fraud Prevention Guidelines, PSD3 measures, and emerging EU Payment Services Regulation requirements, including liability for impersonation fraud, payee verification, enhanced authentication, and mandatory fraud intelligence sharing.
The role emphasizes AI and automation as working tools. You will query transaction and case data, use AI to analyze large datasets, and convert repeated manual reviews into automated workflows. Payhawk provides tooling, data access, and mandate to build detection properly, with the expectation that recurring manual processes are eliminated through automation.
You will present to Boards and Risk Committees, own the fraud risk assessment cycle, maintain the typology library, and drive continuous improvements to live controls. This is an unusually broad regulatory mandate for a single role, combining technical fraud detection expertise with compliance and governance responsibilities.
