Voyager Technologies is seeking an FPGA Manager to lead the engineering team responsible for designing and developing FPGA solutions for space communication systems. This is a hybrid technical and management role based in San Diego, CA, reporting to the VP of Product Design.
You will spend at least 50% of your time hands-on with FPGA design, simulation, and hardware testing, while also overseeing day-to-day engineering operations. Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing FPGA implementations for space applications (resampling, filtering, mixing, error correction coding), architecting solutions against technical requirements, and optimizing designs for speed, performance, and resource utilization.
On the management side, you will oversee the engineering team's operations, assign resources efficiently, ensure projects meet timelines and budgets, conduct design reviews, manage resource allocation, and participate in proposal evaluations and trade studies. You'll also review contracts and technical requirements before handoff to the engineering team.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent; 7+ years of industry experience implementing complex, high-speed FPGA designs; proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams; hands-on FPGA design, integration, and test experience (preferably Xilinx and Microsemi RTG4); ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred: experience designing qualified FPGA/hardware for space applications; experience engaging government and commercial customers through engineering management.
This is a 100% onsite role in San Diego. The position requires security clearance eligibility.
