Reliable Robotics is building safety-enhancing automated aviation systems to make air transportation safer, more convenient, and transformative for goods and people movement globally. The company combines expertise from aerospace, robotics, and autonomous vehicle domains.
The FPGA Radar team is central to Reliable's autonomy mission, developing firmware for next-generation phased array radar systems. Historically reserved for specialized applications, this technology is being made affordable to enable Detect and Avoid capabilities for widespread commercial aviation use.
As FPGA Manager, you will lead and grow the team responsible for complex electronic hardware powering the air-to-air radar system. Your core responsibilities include:
- Leading a high-performance engineering team with a shared vision of reliable, robust, and certifiable radar systems
- Owning the maturation of engineering processes that balance rapid execution with formal DO-254 verification requirements
- Supporting rapid integration and flight testing of the radar system
- Developing and executing technical roadmaps alongside cross-functional teams
- Managing priorities and ensuring team success
- Building, developing, and empowering team members
This is an onsite role in Seattle, WA with 10% travel required. The position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information, and applicants must establish legal status as a U.S. person or obtain appropriate export authorization.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- 7+ years of professional experience in FPGA development (VHDL/Verilog)
- 3+ years in a technical leadership or people management role
- Experience working on complex systems where hardware and software intersect
PREFERRED:
- Demonstrated success scaling teams and maturing development processes in high-growth environments
- Hands-on experience with radar algorithms, radar signal processing, integration, and radar system testing
- Full hardware product development experience from prototype to product in service
- Experience with the complete DO-254 level A/B certification program lifecycle
