CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking an FPGA Engineer II to contribute to the development of FPGA circuits and systems through all phases of the development process, from design through deployment.
In this role, you will design and implement FPGA circuits at the HDL level, working with high-speed serial interfaces, data streams, digital processing cores, multiple clock domains, and management interfaces. You will be responsible for testing, validation, and verification of FPGA designs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with FPGA design tools and lab instrumentation, and will thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment focused on cutting-edge aerospace hardware.
Key responsibilities include:
- FPGA circuit and system development across all development phases
- HDL-level design and implementation (Verilog/VHDL)
- Design verification and testing using industry-standard tools
- Validation and deployment of FPGA systems
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams in a startup environment
- Lab testing and measurement using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience in FPGA design, analysis, and implementation at the HDL level
- Expertise in FPGA design and verification tools: Verilog/VHDL, HDL Coder, Xilinx Vivado, ModelSim, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments: digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status (required for government space technology export compliance)
Preferred Experience:
- Aerospace design and qualification
- Worst-case analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability analysis
- Board-level hardware design
- Digital signal processing and communications systems
Note: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or other protected status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) is required to comply with U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulations.
