Impulse Space is seeking an FPGA Engineer to design and implement satellite communication systems. In this role, you will take complex RF protocols and algorithms and accelerate them into high-throughput FPGA blocks, working closely with RF software engineers to create libraries that bridge fabric acceleration and high-level applications. Your work will directly impact both space-based systems and ground infrastructure processing millions of mission packets per second. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing all layers of satellite communication modems from DSP blocks through network protocols, analyzing timing and resource requirements for current and next-generation RF products, creating end-to-end test harnesses with CI/CD pipeline integration, and collaborating with RF software engineers to develop high-performance libraries connecting FPGA and SOC components. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or related engineering discipline; 2+ years of professional FPGA development experience; proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL; and hands-on experience developing for Xilinx FPGA/SOC products. This is an individual contributor role focused on technical depth in hardware acceleration and satellite communications infrastructure.
