Restaurant365 is seeking an FP&A Manager to serve as the key financial business partner to R&D leadership (Engineering, Product, and DevOps). This role combines strategic financial planning with operational cost management across a multi-tenant SaaS platform.
Key Responsibilities:
You will own all planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the R&D organization, including building and maintaining headcount and opex models that account for hiring plans, contractors, and capitalized software costs. You'll develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate investment trade-offs—hiring, infrastructure, technology, and strategic initiatives—partnering with R&D leadership on prioritization and resource allocation.
Monthly financial management includes budget-to-actual and forecast variance analysis, identifying anomalies, trends, and cost drivers in R&D spend and hosting costs, with recommendations for optimization. You'll partner with Engineering and DevOps to forecast and manage Azure and AWS hosting costs, including usage trends, contract terms, capacity planning, and committed spend, providing financial analysis to support cost optimization initiatives such as reserved instances and vendor negotiations.
You will own the COGS model for the SaaS platform—hosting, cloud infrastructure, third-party services, and support costs—and build unit economics (cost per customer, per location, per transaction) tied to gross margin trends and pricing strategy. Working with Product, you'll build business cases connecting technology investment to payback period, margin impact, and revenue or retention upside, establishing cost allocation and tagging so spend is attributable to products, features, and customers.
Additional responsibilities include forecasting and evaluating AI tooling and infrastructure spend (e.g., Claude, agentic workloads) and recommending cost-effective strategies; ensuring timely delivery of accurate R&D financial reporting, forecasts, and dashboards supporting board and executive reporting on gross margin and R&D efficiency; and applying AI tools to accelerate analysis while validating accuracy and incorporating AI-driven insights into forecasts.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of FP&A, Finance, Business Analysis, or related experience, including experience supporting an R&D, Engineering, or Product organization
- Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure billing and cost management (e.g., Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer) and FinOps concepts preferred
- Comfort partnering with technical stakeholders (Engineering, Product) and translating technical concepts into financial terms
- Ability to solve complex business challenges, deliver accurate and timely financial models and analysis with proven business impact, backed by excellent written and verbal communication skills
