Ayr Energy designs and manufactures critical power grid equipment including power transformers, distribution transformers, high-voltage circuit breakers, and medium-voltage switchgear, serving renewables, data centers, utilities, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.
This is a business-first finance role focused on understanding how the business makes money, not just how numbers are reported. You will partner with sales, project, and supply chain teams to understand what drives orders, margins, and cash, then translate that understanding into budgets, forecasts, and actionable recommendations for leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts for both AEI and AEIPL using driver-based models grounded in real business drivers (order book, delivery schedules, vendor lead times, pricing, costs). Challenge assumptions with business teams and update forecasts as ground reality changes.
• Reporting & Insight: Prepare monthly management reports with variance analysis explaining business reasons behind variances. Analyze margins by project, product, and customer (including freight, duties, FX, logistics). Build MIS dashboards and board/investor reporting packs with brief, precise slides.
• Cash & Working Capital: Prepare 13-week cash flow forecasts and track receivables, payables, and inventory. Monitor bank guarantee and SBLC utilization and facility headroom. Link cash movement to project milestones and business events.
• Process Improvement: Automate and standardize recurring reports and models. Improve data quality and reporting timelines.
You should be curious about the business cycle: how a bid becomes an order, how an order becomes a delivery, and how a delivery becomes cash. Understanding this cycle enables you to see problems in numbers before they appear in the P&L.
Required Business Understanding:
• How the business earns and keeps margin (sourcing, pricing, freight, duties, FX, warranty, commissioning)
• The order-to-cash cycle (tender, bid, contract terms, milestone billing, delivery, retention, collection)
• Market and customers (utilities, discoms, IPPs, EPC contractors differ in payment behavior and risk)
• Cross-border operations (AEI and AEIPL flow, import/export, currency exposure)
• Commercial risk (guarantees, liquidated damages, warranties, insurance, counterparty risk)
Requirements:
• MBA (Finance), CA (Inter), or CA qualified
• 2–3 years in FP&A, business finance, or financial planning with demonstrated partnering with non-finance teams
• Experience in manufacturing, EPC, power, renewables, or other project-based, order-driven businesses strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills: financial modeling, lookups, pivots, scenario and sensitivity analysis
• Solid grasp of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and how they connect
• Familiarity with accounting systems (Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar)
• Working knowledge of cost and margin analysis, working capital, and basic FX exposure
• Exposure to Power BI or similar tools is a plus
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain numbers in plain language
• Confidence to challenge assumptions while staying collaborative
• Strong ownership, attention to detail, respect for deadlines
• Comfortable working with US and India teams across time zones
