Salary: USD 120,000 - 300,000 / annual
Rork is building infrastructure to enable millions of people to ship mobile apps that solve their own problems. The company is pursuing full verticalization—going to the lowest levels of frameworks, databases, simulators, and dev environments to provide the smoothest and fastest experience for future founders.
As a Founding Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure supporting Rork and its apps. Your work will directly impact deployment speed (10x faster), container costs (10x cheaper), and proxy robustness (millions of proxies). You'll work across many databases, proxies, caches, task queues, and orchestration systems, finding creative ways to optimize performance and reduce costs. Example: running Expo dev server on Deno to consume only CPU time.
Rork is a 5-person team founded by Daniel and Levan, both generalists and full-stack engineers who ship fast. You'll be joining at the ground floor of a company solving a massive problem: historically, building apps has been expensive and difficult, leaving countless problems unsolved. Mobile is uniquely positioned for this mission—it's the only platform that retains users well and is an incredible piece of hardware.
You should be inspired by companies and projects like Cloudflare, Bun, Deno, Neon, and Clickhouse. There is also interest in building infrastructure for RL model training.
The interview process includes a vibe call (discussing past projects and coding), a longer technical interview (potentially with live coding), and a paid work trial (2 weeks, preferably in-person with travel covered, or online if necessary).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working with databases, proxies, caches, task queues, and orchestration systems
- Ability to find creative optimizations for speed and cost
- Willingness to work 10+ hours a day, 6+ days a week
- Familiarity with or inspiration from Cloudflare, Bun, Deno, Neon, Clickhouse
- Interest in building infrastructure for RL model training (preferred)
- Exceptional talent valued over perfect requirement match
