First Resonance is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to serve as a technical expert embedded at customer sites across the New England area. You will work directly with manufacturers of advanced hardware—eVTOLs, rockets, robots, and autonomous vehicles—to solve their most demanding operational challenges.
In this role, you'll be the bridge between First Resonance's ION platform and customers' engineering teams. Your responsibilities include implementing and customizing ION for each customer's unique needs, collaborating with their engineers to design automation features, debugging production issues, and developing custom solutions (web apps, data pipelines, etc.) that integrate seamlessly with the platform. You'll own end-to-end delivery of high-stakes projects, working in small teams and maintaining close customer relationships throughout.
You'll spend roughly 40% of your time deployed at customer sites in the New England region, working hands-on with their teams to understand problems and validate solutions. The remaining time will be spent collaborating with First Resonance's product and engineering teams to incorporate customer feedback and continuously improve the platform.
Required qualifications include a strong engineering background (Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science), proven ability to ship production-quality code, excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
Desired experience includes manufacturing domain knowledge, product management or lead engineering background, proficiency in Python and/or React/TypeScript, and comfort working with large-scale data to solve customer problems. An entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in fast-paced startup environments is valued.
