AmberBox is a Silicon Valley VC-backed gunshot detection and response technology company serving Fortune 100 corporations, schools, hospitals, government departments, and airports. As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you will bridge engineering and customer success, working directly with clients to understand their operational environments and translate those needs into shipped software.
You'll partner closely with product managers and other engineers to scope, build, and deploy features that solve real problems for enterprise customers including Fortune 100 corporations, schools, and professional sports teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include adapting the platform to fit complex customer environments—integrating with existing security infrastructure, customizing alerting workflows for operations teams, and configuring systems to address specific client needs.
This role emphasizes end-to-end ownership: you'll move from customer conversation through production deployment, taking full responsibility for features. You'll work in ambiguity, context-switch frequently, and have direct exposure to how your software impacts real-world security operations.
Required skills include strong proficiency in typed languages (Java, Kotlin, C++, C#, or TypeScript), back-end frameworks (Spring, Express/Inversify/typeORM), and front-end tools (Angular, React, Vue, or NextJS). You should have experience designing RESTful APIs, implementing modern authentication mechanisms (JWTs, SSO/SAML), and deploying with Kubernetes/Helm.
