Outset is an AI-powered user research platform used by global enterprises like HubSpot, Microsoft, Uber, and Nestle to conduct qualitative research at scale. The company recently raised a $30M Series B (December 2025) and is experiencing 8x business growth as enterprises adopt AI-moderated research as a new standard.
As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you will be a bridge between engineering and customers, driving Outset's EU expansion while building core product capabilities. You'll work across the full stack—designing and optimizing React/Next.js frontend interfaces, building robust backend services and APIs in Python/Django, and implementing real-time data processing and LLM infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with sales and customer support teams to drive EU market expansion
- Interfacing directly with customers to gather feedback, understand pain points, and build targeted features
- Providing pre- and post-sales technical support and troubleshooting
- Designing, developing, and optimizing user-friendly frontend interfaces using React and Next.js
- Building scalable backend services, APIs, and real-time data processing infrastructure
- Implementing and refining the company's in-house Large Language Model and real-time interview technology
- Leading customer-facing projects from conception through production deployment
You should have 5+ years of production software engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python, Django, SQL (Postgres), and AWS. Experience in customer-facing roles is essential. Bonus skills include real-time data visualization, WebRTC, data streaming, and AI/ML infrastructure familiarity.
