PhysicsX is a deep-tech company building an AI-driven simulation software stack for engineering and manufacturing across advanced industries including Aerospace & Defense, Materials, Energy, Semiconductors, and Automotive. The company enables high-fidelity, multi-physics simulation through AI inference to unlock optimization and automation in design, manufacturing, and operations. As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you will be a customer-facing technical leader responsible for helping customers solve their most important problems by building and deploying applications that leverage PhysicsX's physics AI models. You'll work directly with customers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to develop solutions that enable engineers to build better, faster, and cheaper. Key responsibilities include: - Collaborating with cross-functional teams (data scientists, ML engineers, designers, front-end engineers) to ship physics models that deliver maximum customer value - End-to-end application design: working with customers to shape impactful tools, constructing prototypes, and rapidly iterating based on user feedback - Backend development: building and maintaining RESTful APIs using FastAPI and microservices in Python to serve Large Physics Models. Deploying applications to cloud infrastructure using Helm, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS/Azure - Platform development: distilling complex solutions into fundamental components, pitching and executing feature development on the core platform, and driving the direction of PhysicsX You'll travel to customer sites in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania for approximately 3-4 weeks per quarter to collaborate on-site. Ideal candidates have a track record of solving hard problems, ideally with a background in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. You should have a solid foundation in software engineering, API design, and production deployment. The role requires proactivity, high ownership, and a solution-focused mindset—you'll be responsible for driving end-to-end impact and picking up new skills to solve novel problems quickly. Strong customer obsession and the ability to work alongside customers to understand their problems is essential.
