n8n is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed on-site with enterprise customers and turn strategic deployments into production-ready success stories. You'll be the founding Forward Deployed Engineer, working directly with customers, Deployment Strategists, and Product teams to solve real automation challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
• Embed on-site with enterprise customers for focused 5-day deployment engagements, arriving with a hypothesis and delivering production workflows.
• Design and build production-grade automation solutions, including custom nodes, integrations, and workflows tailored to each customer's environment.
• Partner with Deployment Strategists to align technical execution with customer priorities and adoption goals.
• Build trust with technical and non-technical stakeholders by translating complex environments into actionable solutions.
• Extend existing n8n nodes or add missing functionality to unlock high-value enterprise use cases.
• Bridge customer needs with Product and Engineering by identifying when bespoke requirements should become reusable capabilities.
• Create feedback loops documenting technical gaps, implementation learnings, and prioritization signals.
• Contribute reusable workflows, custom nodes, and integration patterns to an internal playbook library.
• Deliver time-boxed engagements with clear outcomes, building solutions customers can own and operate independently.
Required qualifications:
• Strong full-stack or backend engineering experience with production integrations, APIs, or automation pipelines.
• Expertise building custom nodes, extending integrations, and working with APIs, authentication patterns, and event-driven systems.
• Product-minded technical judgment to distinguish between one-off workarounds, reusable improvements, and product features.
• Comfort working directly in customer environments and building trust with engineers, operators, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Solution design skills to translate messy operational problems into clean technical designs.
• Strong judgment about when to build, simplify, or push back to avoid unnecessary complexity.
• Willingness to travel 50-60% for on-site engagements, primarily across Europe.
• Ability to quickly understand new industries, tech stacks, and customer environments.
Nice-to-have experience includes workflow automation tools (n8n or similar), enterprise deployment in complex environments, custom node/connector development, forward deployed or solutions engineering roles, and translating customer learnings into product feedback.
