Salesforce is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers to design, build, and deploy agentic AI solutions directly inside enterprise customer environments, particularly in the public sector, nonprofit, and education verticals. You'll work as part of a delivery team alongside a Deployment Strategist, co-building production solutions that go live from day one. Engagements range from single large strategic customers to multiple accounts simultaneously, with real code, real environments, and measurable business impact.
The role spans configuration, customization, and full-stack deployment across Agentforce, data platforms, and headless architectures. You'll develop AI agents and experiences that take real actions for real organizations at some of the largest enterprises globally. Key responsibilities include designing agent intelligence (prompts, reasoning, tool calls, system integrations), owning technical components end-to-end from architecture to production deployment, building and integrating data pipelines on Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, and Databricks, and creating agent performance dashboards and customer KPI reporting.
You'll have frontier access to the evolving agentic AI platform, working on capabilities most engineers won't touch for months. You'll contribute to proofs-of-concept and MVPs that move from concept to deployment in days, co-build alongside customers and partners, and surface platform gaps and field insights to senior engineers and product teams. The role includes approximately 25% travel to work directly alongside customers.
Required qualifications: Computer Science degree or related field; 3+ years of software engineering or technical delivery experience with at least one production system; prior customer-facing technical delivery experience (consulting, professional services, or forward deployed engineering); proven experience managing and delivering projects within public sector, higher education, or nonprofit environments; fluency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Apex; hands-on experience with LLMs and prompt engineering; strong understanding of data modeling, APIs, and integration patterns; ability to communicate effectively with sales teams and customer architects; and genuine curiosity about the evolving AI/data landscape.
Nice-to-haves include Salesforce platform certifications, familiarity with agent frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex, hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, and specialist AI delivery experience in data engineering, platform architecture, or headless deployments.
