Salary: EUR 80,000 - 110,000 / annual
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Cloudflare, you will serve as a senior technical expert and trusted advisor for strategic enterprise customers. This hybrid role based in Lisbon balances deep technical expertise with hands-on onsite engagement, where you will architect solutions, optimize performance, and drive business success by helping customers maximize the value of Cloudflare's platform.
You will lead architectural discussions and design sessions to ensure optimal application of Cloudflare's offerings—particularly Workers and Workers AI platforms—in customer environments. You'll diagnose complex technical issues and deliver strategic solutions in collaboration with support and product teams. Your responsibilities include managing complex configurations using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), advising customers on industry best practices for security and performance tuning, and staying current with evolving Cloudflare solutions.
You will partner cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Support, Partners, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure customer insights directly influence the product roadmap. This role requires deep experience in technical customer-facing positions such as Solutions Architect or Technical Account Manager, ideally within cloud networking, security, or web infrastructure.
Required qualifications include extensive knowledge of Cloudflare's Application and Security portfolio (DNS, WAF, DDoS, Bot Management, CDN), hands-on experience protecting web applications and APIs, proven ability to work with enterprise-level accounts, and exceptional communication skills. You must be able to translate customer requirements into practical, scalable solutions and present complex topics effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice-to-have skills include hands-on experience with coding, Cloudflare Workers, Workers AI, and prior customer onsite placement experience.
