OpenGov is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join the Applied AI team, focused on designing and building AI-native workflows and tools for the Marketing organization. This is a technical role that bridges software engineering with marketing operations, demand generation, and product marketing activation. You will own the design, build, and continuous improvement of marketing automation tools—chiefly a "growth marketing cockpit" that enables marketers to launch end-to-end campaigns in a single session rather than stitching together disparate systems. Your responsibilities include mapping and redesigning marketing workflows through an AI-native lens, identifying where AI creates leverage versus risk, and translating findings into prioritized action plans. Key responsibilities: - Design and deploy AI-powered tools and automations including self-serve campaign creation, lead scoring/routing, content generation, and SDR sequence messaging - Partner with marketing teams to understand current-state processes (campaign management, lead scoring, MQL handoff) and identify optimization opportunities - Close the campaign performance feedback loop by partnering with GTM Strategy to accelerate root-cause analysis from multi-day manual processes to same-day AI-native insights - Act as connective tissue across marketing and other functions, surfacing shared infrastructure opportunities to prevent duplicated builds - Collaborate with AI platform, systems, and data engineers to translate business needs into technical specifications - Serve as the primary AI capability advisor for Marketing leadership, evaluating build vs. buy tradeoffs and identifying compliance/brand-risk constraints - Drive adoption and change management for deployed tools through user feedback and iteration - Maintain a living roadmap of AI initiatives across Marketing, tracking impact on pipeline contribution, lead conversion, and campaign efficiency You bring sharp problem-solving skills, comfort with modern AI tools, and the ability to decompose complex manual workflows into components for fundamental redesign. You think from first principles, build trust with domain experts before designing solutions, and own the full lifecycle from problem discovery to adoption. You have a genuine interest in influencing core marketing KPIs (stage conversion rate, MQL creation, campaign messaging success) and will exercise data access and responsibilities with appropriate discretion.
