n8n is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed on-site with enterprise customers and turn strategic deployments into production-ready success stories. You'll work directly with customers, Deployment Strategists, and Product teams to design and build high-impact automation solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
• Embed on-site with enterprise customers for focused 5-day deployment engagements, arriving with a hypothesis and delivering production workflows.
• Design and build production-grade automation solutions, workflows, and custom integrations tailored to each customer's environment and scalable beyond initial use cases.
• Extend existing n8n nodes or add missing functionality to unlock high-value enterprise use cases.
• Translate ambiguous business problems into concrete automation designs that prioritize customer value over technical complexity.
• Bridge customer needs with Product and Engineering by identifying when bespoke requirements should become reusable improvements or product features.
• Create feedback loops with Product and Engineering by documenting technical gaps, implementation learnings, and prioritization signals.
• Contribute reusable learnings, workflows, custom nodes, and integration patterns to an internal playbook library.
• Deliver time-boxed customer engagements with clear outcomes, building solutions customers can own and operate themselves.
• Work across industries and tech stacks, getting productive quickly in new environments.
Required qualifications:
• Strong full-stack or backend engineering experience with production integrations, APIs, or automation pipelines.
• Expertise in custom node creation, API integration, authentication patterns, data models, and event-driven systems.
• Product-minded technical execution with ability to distinguish between one-off workarounds, reusable improvements, and product features.
• Comfort working directly in customer environments and building trust with engineers, operators, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong solution design skills to translate operational problems into clean, practical technical designs.
• Excellent technical judgment knowing when to build, push back, and avoid over-engineering.
• Willingness to travel 50-60% of the time for on-site engagements, primarily across Europe.
• Ability to quickly understand new industries, tech stacks, and customer environments.
Nice-to-have experience includes workflow automation tools (n8n or similar), enterprise deployment in complex technical environments, custom node/connector development, forward deployed or solutions engineering roles, and experience turning customer learnings into product feedback.
