Alex is an AI-powered recruiter that screens and interviews candidates via voice across web and phone, integrating directly into enterprise applicant tracking systems (ATS) and hiring workflows. Forward-Deployed Engineers (FDEs) are the technical owners of every Alex deployment, responsible for making the product work seamlessly within each customer's unique systems and processes. In this role, you will design and build customer-specific solutions, translating hiring processes into executable workflows including triggers, filters, interview guides, and ATS actions. You'll own the full lifecycle: designing solutions in customer meetings, building and testing implementations, shipping to production, and maintaining deployments post-launch. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build how customers use Alex, turning hiring process requirements into functional workflows - Own the integration surface across roughly two dozen ATS platforms (some direct, some through unified API partners), building new integrations and maintaining existing ones - Run the technical side of customer onboarding: managing connections, permissions, job imports, field mapping, workflow configuration, and go-live sequencing - Own production deployments, managing the support queue for both customers and candidates, diagnosing issues to root cause, and building monitoring to catch problems proactively - Serve as the technical voice of the customer, identifying product gaps across multiple accounts and building evidenced cases for the product engineering team You'll need real engineering ability—this role involves reading code, writing code, and shipping changes. You must be comfortable working inside third-party systems with incomplete documentation, debugging by gathering evidence rather than reasoning from symptoms, and communicating directly with customers without intermediaries. Strong written communication is essential, as much of the role's output is clear technical explanations. Preferred experience includes forward-deployed, implementation, solutions, or integrations engineering roles; building against messy enterprise APIs; and fluency with observability tooling (logs, traces, dashboards, alerting).
