The company serves critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation. The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) in the Digital Innovation Group works directly at Re:Build manufacturing sites, collaborating with site teams to rapidly prototype and deliver full-stack digital solutions addressing real business challenges. This is a customer-facing technical role combining software engineering, solutions delivery, and AI expertise. Key responsibilities include: understanding business processes and uncovering digital solution opportunities; owning the full lifecycle of prototypes and production solutions from discovery through deployment and iteration; building prototypes to validate approaches; leveraging AI/ML knowledge to recommend high-impact solutions; identifying and resolving bugs while optimizing for performance and scalability; providing technical mentorship during implementation; contributing to software architecture ensuring scalability and reliability; conducting code reviews; developing technical documentation and reusable assets; ensuring implementations meet security protocols, data standards, and AI governance guidelines; and traveling up to 50% domestically to portfolio locations. Required qualifications: 3+ years of software engineering, solutions platform delivery, or technical implementation experience, ideally customer-facing; proficiency in Python or similar languages with strong API and systems integration knowledge; ability to rapidly understand unfamiliar technical ecosystems and build integration paths; excellent communication translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders; high ownership and comfort operating independently in ambiguity; demonstrated experience with enterprise customers in manufacturing, quality, engineering services, or supply chain; experience with LLMs, generative AI pipelines, and agent-style automation frameworks; prior consulting, technical solution engineering, or internal tools experience; and proven ability to lead complex customer deployments involving cloud infrastructure, identity/SSO, data access, and enterprise system integration.
