P-1 AI is building Archie, an AI engineer agent for the physical world designed to operate seamlessly within existing engineering teams. Archie currently operates at the level of a junior mechanical and electrical engineer with quantitative intuition in product design and the ability to use complex engineering tools. The company recently closed a $50M Series A led by NEA, with former GE CEO Jeff Immelt joining the board, alongside investors from Anthropic, Nominal, Google, and OpenAI. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead for each customer deployment, making key architectural and integration decisions. Your responsibilities include: - Lead the entire Archie product lifecycle with customers: conduct discovery sessions, translate engineering challenges into AI use cases, design workflow integration, and provide post-deployment support. - Design, implement, and refine customer integrations by connecting Archie to engineering data sources and tools, iterating until measurable value is delivered. - Fine-tune and evaluate AI systems in production: identify, collect, and prepare customer data for model fine-tuning; source evaluation criteria from customer sessions to validate improved engineering capability. - Collaborate with subject matter experts and AI specialists to develop novel AI systems for critical customer engineering tasks. - Diagnose and resolve critical issues in live deployments, driving root-cause analysis and implementing durable improvements. You will work directly with customers and technical leaders, building end-to-end AI solutions and taking them into production to solve real-world physical engineering problems. REQUIREMENTS: - Proven experience shipping data-driven or AI systems to production (Python strongly preferred). - Physical engineering background (automotive, aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related domain). - Ability to rapidly build integrations between disparate customer systems. - Comfortable working directly with customers and technical leaders. - Experience integrating or extending AI systems (bonus: engineering or scientific domain expertise). - Experience delivering solutions in secure enterprise environments. - Demonstrated live production troubleshooting and customer incident response capability.
