HealthLeap is an AI operating system that helps hospital care teams identify patients who need intervention, improving health outcomes and generating significant value. The company is live at 40+ hospitals with plans to expand to 100+, having grown contracted revenue 13x over the past year. The team is ~25 people, well-funded (>$32M raised), and SF-based with hybrid flexibility. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will build software directly with hospital teams and translate what works into scalable product features. The role bridges customer success and product engineering: you'll own hospital integrations end-to-end, from technical discovery through reliable production deployment. You'll work with hospital IT and clinical teams to understand their needs, build and debug connections to electronic health record systems (handling authentication, APIs, data mapping, and monitoring), investigate problems collaboratively, and create custom tools or analytics when the standard product doesn't yet fit a hospital's workflow. A key part of the job is identifying repeated requests and turning them into reusable connectors, validation tools, and product features. The tech stack is Python and TypeScript. This is not a heads-down role—you'll interact regularly with hospital teams, and you should expect variable hours, including occasional 60+ hour weeks during go-lives. The interview process includes an intro call, system design discussion, take-home exercise, and onsite with the team; no LeetCode puzzles. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years building and operating production software with strong backend, API, data modeling, and SQL skills - Experience taking a complex third-party integration live with the technical team on the other side - Evidence of building software around a customer's workflow and improving it based on real usage - Comfort with customer-facing work: ability to investigate unclear problems, explain tradeoffs, and make build decisions without a complete spec STRONG PLUS: - Founder or early engineer experience owning messy, ambiguous parts of a business - Familiarity with EHRs, HL7, or FHIR (strong engineering and integration judgment valued over healthcare domain expertise)
