Flagler Health is building a clinical operating system for modern musculoskeletal care, partnering with MSK provider groups and specialty clinics to improve operations, patient acquisition, clinical workflows, and ongoing engagement. The company recently closed Series B funding and is scaling rapidly.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of product and customer, working directly with clinics and provider groups to understand their needs and build solutions. This is a full-stack engineering role with significant customer-facing responsibility. You will conduct discovery conversations to surface requirements, translate client needs into technical specifications, implement end-to-end solutions, and deploy/support them in live clinical environments. The feedback loop is immediate—you will see your work impact real clinical workflows.
Key responsibilities include partnering directly with clients to understand workflows and constraints, asking clarifying questions that turn vague requests into buildable requirements, translating needs into technical specs and implementing them across the stack, building customer-facing solutions using modern frameworks, deploying and iterating in live environments, feeding patterns back into the core product, and representing Flagler credibly in technical conversations with non-technical stakeholders.
You should have a BS in Computer Science or strong demonstrated engineering ability. The company welcomes 1–2 years of experience for exceptional learners, as well as candidates with 2–5 years. An impressive portfolio is required and must be shared before the skills interview. You need full-stack capability beyond JavaScript/TypeScript, strong communication skills, genuine comfort in client-facing settings, ability to translate requirements independently, and comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities. Experience with LiveKit, Twilio, OpenAI API, healthcare, digital health, or regulated environments is a plus.
The role is based in NYC with flexibility for excellent remote candidates. Weekly team syncs and pair-coding sessions require video on.
