Figma is building a founding Forward Deployed Engineering team to solve complex, real-world challenges when bringing Figma's products into large-scale enterprise environments. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll embed directly with strategic customers, working across their codebases, design systems, developer environments, and workflows to ensure Figma's products succeed within their unique technical constraints. This is a senior/staff-level engineering role within Product and Engineering—not a sales or services function. You'll write Figma product code and turn field insights into scalable improvements that benefit all customers. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Experience teams, you'll help shape both the product and the playbook for this brand-new function. Key responsibilities include: making enterprise design systems agent-ready for AI code generation by fixing tokens, naming, and guidelines; getting Figma's products (Make Local, Code Layers, and newer offerings) working in customer environments; running technical discovery to understand dev environments, toolchains, and constraints; debugging complex integration problems across unfamiliar stacks; building LLM-powered workflows with MCP setup and agent skills; turning one-off solutions into reusable playbooks and product feedback; and bringing field friction back to Figma's engineering org to influence product direction. You'll need 5+ years shipping production software end-to-end with meaningful customer or partner team experience. Strong engineering fundamentals and adaptability are essential—you'll navigate unfamiliar codebases, languages, and technical environments to deliver production-ready solutions. Experience with design systems, design-to-code workflows, tokens, and component libraries is important. Excellent customer-facing communication and technical partnership skills are critical; you'll build trust with senior engineers and translate customer needs into actionable solutions. Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python is required, along with hands-on API/SDK integration, toolchain troubleshooting, CI environment navigation, and enterprise requirements (SSO, security reviews, access controls, data residency, compliance). Added strengths include comfort in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces with end-to-end ownership; strong product mindset and ability to identify patterns from customer engagements; background in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, professional services, or developer experience; familiarity with developer tools, design-to-code workflows, or AI/LLM products; and proven cross-functional partnership with Sales, Customer Experience, and Solutions Architecture teams.
