Edia is an AI technology company serving K-12 education with 1M+ students across the U.S. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll embed directly with large school districts to integrate Edia's products into their complex technical and operational environments. You'll work at the intersection of customer success engineering and product engineering. Unlike traditional roles that collect requirements and hand them off, you'll own the full lifecycle: discovering district needs, designing technical solutions, implementing integrations and product extensions, debugging failures, and operating what you ship in production. Key responsibilities include: - Embed with district IT, data, curriculum, and operations teams to understand their systems, constraints, and workflows - Build and operate integrations with PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Synergy, Clever, ClassLink, and other district systems - Implement REST API integrations, SFTP pipelines, SSO and rostering flows, data transformations, and data migrations - Extend Edia's products with district-specific workflows, internal tools, reports, and automations - Ship full-stack functionality when needed, including backend services, data models, and user interfaces - Debug schema mismatches, authentication problems, API limitations, and data-quality failures - Build testing, observability, reconciliation, and recovery mechanisms for every integration - Remain accountable through go-live and production stabilization - Identify repeated customer problems and turn them into reusable platform capabilities - Partner with Product and Engineering to influence roadmap based on field learnings Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related rigorous technical field; 4+ years of hands-on software engineering; strong programming fundamentals; experience building production backend services and data integrations; strong debugging skills across application, data, and infrastructure; cloud infrastructure experience; ability to design, implement, and remain accountable for production systems; excellent communication with engineers and nontechnical stakeholders; comfort in ambiguous customer environments. Valued experience includes Node.js and TypeScript, AWS, React or full-stack development, SIS/LMS/rostering/SSO/education-data integrations, and forward-deployed or implementation engineering backgrounds.
