Bunkerhill Health is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join as a founding member of the team. The company operates Carebricks, an AI platform that has processed 6M+ patient records and 10M+ workflows, and is scaling toward 100M.
In this role, you'll bridge the gap between clinical needs and technical implementation. Healthcare integration is complex—legacy system compatibility, malformed FHIR data, edge cases affecting patient outcomes, and frontier AI work where no precedent exists. You'll own the full loop from problem identification to production deployment.
A typical week includes:
- Stakeholder meetings with physicians, hospital IT teams, and clinical/operational champions to identify high-impact use cases
- Use case scoping to translate clinical ideas into concrete requirements, success metrics, and implementation paths
- Use case building by creating and evaluating AI agents within Carebricks to ensure they deliver intended clinical outcomes
- Use case alignment through ongoing monitoring, updates based on clinical guidelines, and operational feedback
- Core platform engineering to evolve Carebricks based on real-world learnings and user needs
You'll have genuine ownership: the cycle from "a physician identified a problem" to "the platform is fixed" should close in days, with you driving the entire process. This requires comfort moving between clinical conversations in the morning and debugging production pipelines in the afternoon, with relentless focus on patient outcomes.

This is a founding-stage position offering significant scope and impact. Based in San Francisco with 4 days/week in-office requirement; relocation assistance available.
