Blockstream is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed directly within customer engineering teams, delivering enterprise Bitcoin and Layer-2 solutions into production. This role bridges Blockstream's product and consulting organizations, combining hands-on software engineering with customer-facing technical delivery.
You will own end-to-end implementation of Blockstream's enterprise products for financial institutions, from technical pre-sales and proof-of-concept development through production deployment and post-launch support. Key responsibilities include:
**Customer Delivery & Implementation:** Lead technical implementations for enterprise customers, using AI-assisted development to rapidly prototype solutions and validate product value. Support Enterprise Sales with RFP responses, security questionnaires, and SOW scoping. Work directly with banking teams to understand complex operational workflows and technical environments. Configure and optimize products based on customer requirements, execute UAT, manage production deployments, and deliver enablement sessions.
**Engineering & Technical Delivery:** Deploy solutions into on-premise, air-gapped, and network-isolated banking environments under formal change control. Design and implement integrations between Blockstream products and customer systems using required data pipeline technologies. Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, develop reusable deployment assets and playbooks, and collaborate with Blockstream's engineering team to resolve product issues.
**Customer Collaboration:** Embed with customer teams to understand their operating environment and technical challenges. Facilitate technical workshops and architecture discussions. Act as a trusted technical advisor and build relationships across customer Technology, Operations, Security, and Engineering functions.
**Product Improvement:** Turn implementation learnings and customer feedback into code contributions. Identify repeatable deployment patterns and contribute to standardized methodologies. Partner with Product Management to shape the roadmap based on real customer implementations.
Required: 4–8 years in Software Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Professional Services, or Enterprise Software Delivery. Proficiency in at least one systems/backend language (Python, Go, Rust) to build and ship integrations independently. Experience implementing enterprise software in complex customer environments. Strong understanding of protocol intermediation, enterprise integration patterns, cloud technologies, security fundamentals, and modern software architectures. Proven ability to work directly with enterprise customers, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and manage multiple engagements independently. Willingness to travel regularly to customer locations.
