Basic Capital is a fintech company modernizing America's $1 trillion retirement industry. The company is building a modern 401(k) platform designed for today's workforce and introducing the first-ever retirement mortgage product. The founding team includes leaders from Goldman Sachs, Uber, Block, Stripe, and Robinhood, and the company is backed by top-tier investors including Lux Capital, Forerunner Ventures, and Henry Kravis.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will embed directly with external partners such as Third Party Administrators (TPAs), record-keepers, and HR/payroll processors. Your role is to rapidly understand their most challenging operational issues and leverage software and AI to build comprehensive, end-to-end full-stack solutions. You will engage directly with both technical teams and executive stakeholders to drive product development and implementation.
You will need 2+ years of forward deployed or solutions engineering experience, with strong full-stack software engineering capabilities. Required technical proficiencies include at least one of: Kotlin, Rust, Java, Go, C/C++, Python, Ruby, or TypeScript, plus React expertise.
Preferred qualifications include fintech or early-stage technology company experience, a highly analytical approach to solving business and operational problems through technology, and genuine curiosity about the intersection of technology and business operations.
The ideal candidate is passionate about solving significant social problems with pragmatic solutions, comfortable with financial complexity, enjoys learning new technologies, and thrives in a fast-paced, autonomous environment. Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication skills are essential. The role is based in the Tribeca office in New York City, with an emphasis on in-office presence.
