Salary: USD 280,000 - 320,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed directly with strategic enterprise customers and drive transformational AI adoption. You will collaborate with customer teams to ship advanced AI applications that solve real-world business problems using Claude models.
In this role, you'll combine deep engineering expertise with customer-facing skills to understand workflows and develop innovative solutions. You'll work at the frontier of enterprise AI deployments, operating autonomously and representing Anthropic at the highest level in customer environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building production applications with Claude models within customer systems, ensuring products meet requirements
- Delivering technical artifacts such as MCP servers, sub-agents, and agent skills for production workflows
- Providing white-glove deployment support for Anthropic products in enterprise environments
- Identifying and codifying repeatable deployment patterns, feeding insights back to Product and Engineering teams
- Maintaining current knowledge of LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development stacks
- Building long-term customer relationships and proactively identifying new AI deployment opportunities
- Traveling to customer sites (approximately 25%) to build solutions in person
- Championing Anthropic's mission in the field
You should have 4+ years in a technical, customer-facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Software Engineer with consulting experience, or as a technical founder. Required qualifications include production experience with LLMs (prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, deployment at scale), strong Python proficiency with additional languages (TypeScript, Java), ability to navigate ambiguity in complex organizations, and excellent communication skills for customer discovery and stakeholder engagement.
Preferred experience includes backgrounds in financial services, healthcare/life sciences, or other enterprise verticals; familiarity with enterprise IT systems and AI deployment patterns; and prior FDE or professional services experience.
