Cohere is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join its North platform team, working at the intersection of enterprise AI and real-world business problems. North is Cohere's secure AI workspace platform enabling enterprises to deploy AI agents while maintaining control over sensitive data.
In this role, you will partner directly with enterprise customers in regulated sectors (finance, healthcare, telecommunications) to translate complex business challenges into production-grade agentic workflows. You'll own the full lifecycle—from problem scoping and design through deployment—of LLM-powered agents that reason, plan, and act across tools, APIs, and sensitive data sources with enterprise-grade reliability.
Key responsibilities include: designing and building multi-step reasoning agents using patterns like ReAct and Plan-and-Execute; developing robust evaluation frameworks to measure agent accuracy, safety, and latency; contributing features to the North platform across the full stack; and establishing architectural standards for agentic systems. You'll work closely with enterprise stakeholders, translating ambiguous requirements into concrete technical specifications, and travel 20–40% to work on-site with customers.
You should have hands-on production experience building in Python with clean, testable, observable code. Deep familiarity with the LLM stack (frontier models, vector databases, orchestration frameworks) and proven success deploying RAG and agentic applications is essential. Experience owning end-to-end use cases, working in fast-paced ambiguous environments, and building with enterprise customers is required. Bonus qualifications include setting architectural standards across distributed teams, experience in regulated industries, and familiarity with enterprise security and compliance requirements for AI systems.
